Employer's report in EDS: what to file and when

The employer's report is the basic monthly document for every company with employees. This article covers what it must include, the filing deadline and how the software prepares it without manual calculation.

What the employer's report is

The employer's report is a report the employer files with VID for each month. It shows the pay calculated for employees, the personal income tax (IIN) withheld and the state social insurance contributions (VSAOI), both the employee's and the employer's share. The report is closely tied to payroll, so the figures in both documents always match.

What the report includes

  • Each employee's calculated gross pay.
  • The IIN withheld and the non-taxable minimum applied.
  • The employee's and the employer's VSAOI share.
  • Hours worked or other data relevant to the period.

Filing deadline

ActionDeadline
Filing the reportby the 17th of the following month
Paying VSAOI and IINby the 23rd of the following month

Deadlines may differ depending on the company's status; check the current dates on the VID website.

How it relates to payroll

The employer's report is the result of the payroll calculation. If payroll is entered correctly in the software, the report fills itself in. To see how net pay is derived from gross pay and how the taxes are calculated, read the article on payroll calculation with the current rates. If you are VAT-registered, the article on how to prepare the VAT return in EDS will also help.

How the software prepares the report

After the payroll calculation, the software creates the employer's report with all employee data and checks that the totals agree. When everything is in order, the document gets the status "Ready for submission". More about the process in the article on data preparation for EDS.

Filing in VID EDS

The employer's report must be filed in VID EDS manually. The software prepares the report only up to the status "Ready for submission" and does not file it for you. How to pass the prepared data to EDS is explained in the article on data preparation for EDS.
